Soon after being awarded a BA in Biology from Middlebury College in Vermont, Craig Moore traveled to Europe. Always fascinated by motor sports, Moore accepted a position with the Husqvarna factory motocross team. As part of the team he traveled throughout Europe from 1972-74, racing in the European Motocross 250cc series. In March 1982, Dr. Moore punctuated his Summa Cum Laude medical degree from the University of Rome, Rome, Italy, with a Thesis (in Italian) on “Blood Coagulation problems in Extracorporeal Oxygenation Systems.” During his internship and residency, Dr. Moore also contributed to publications for the “Resident and Staff Physician” in 1984 and the “Journal of Respiratory Diseases,” in 1985.

In 2007, following the suggestion of a colleague, Dr. Moore joined the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital’s Emergency Department team. One of the hospital’s main strengths, Moore believes, is the fact that the physicians and staff are rooted in the community: “The staff is not only compassionate and caring; but also highly professional.” As for his patients, Dr. Moore continued: “The patients I see have such diverse backgrounds and as a result I enjoy spending the extra time interacting with them and their family members.”

In his free time Dr. Moore, still a keen motor sports enthusiast, oversees TrakMed, Inc, providing trackside medical services to GM’s Corvette/Cadillac and Porsche racing teams for the American Le Mans series.
